My Other Website:
Description: Hello to all, My name is Aletheia and I am an experienced massage therapist with office on both Visual hands massage studio on E.Madison St. and Swoon Boutique Spa on Pine St. I provide Swedish massage, deep tissue, hot stones, and sports massage. I am exceptionally skilled at attuning myself to your stress and injury needs - partly because I am deaf, which helps heighten my sense of touch and intuition. Even though I am deaf, I will be able to communicate with you by reading your lips. Please contact me via e-mail and we can set up an appointment and I can answer any questions you might have. Thank you for reading this, and I hope to be working with you soon.
What should I do in a Massage?
Make yourself comfortable. If your massage therapist is "deaf" and unable to understand and if you use sign language is not an accessible means for you to communicate, that is certainly not a problem. We will find some appropriate means to communicate effectively. This may some form of gesturing (i.e.: numerical signs 1-10 for deeper work, thumbs thumbs/up and down - cultural standard gestures, etc) to facilitate a better massage session flow. We can also type onto such as a Sidekick or Blackberry device or keyboard. You can show me the illustrations or picture on your body to specify an area to be worked on, or simply use your chosen communication preference so that we together may develop your preferential mode. Or like a Mime?
What massage Therapist do?... If your therapist wants to adjust your position, she will either move you ( for instance lift your arm) or will tell you what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable.
Many people just close their eyes and relax completely during a massage. Others prefer to talk. It's your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is certainly the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions about what your massage therapist is doing, or about massage in general.
The desire to sigh or take a deep breath is a sign that you are relaxing. In fact, deep natural breaths can actually help you relax.
Will a massage ever hurt?
Massage on healthy tissues feels good, and the saying " no pain, no gain" is not true for massage. The most effective and the deepest massage works with the body's natural responses, rather than against them. Always tell your massage therapist if you feel any discomfort so she can adjust to a more appropriate level.
Massage used to address a painful injury, may at first cause some discomfort, which usually lessens noticeably in the first few minutes. Your massage therapist knows ways to minimize pain, and will work carefully within what feels right to you.
