Description: Massage is a natural way to manage pain & greatly reduce stress hormones in the body. This is very important because over time if left untreated these hormones wreak havoc with our health. It can reduce blood pressure and heart rate, improve immune function, digestion and elimination. Massage can also reduce anxiety and increase mental clarity. Freeing blockages in our qi (lifeforce energy) is another benefit that is very important. When qi gets blocked chronic conditions can occur and we generally feel bad.
My massage blends a variety of techniques mostly eastern in origin. My techniques address the above issues and many more. I use acupressure to enable muscle release which allows me to go deeper into the muscle without pain. I am very aware & respectful of a clients' comfort level with respect to the amount of pressure given. I believe very strongly in the mind, body, spirit connection as well as nutrition and daily exercise.
ETPS, electrotherapeutic point stimulation (also called neuromechanical acupuncture) is a non-invasive therapy applying concentrated low frequency direct current stimulation. The World Health Organization recognizes acutherapy including ETPS as an effective non-invasive pain treatment for chronic pain disorders. The stimulation is briefly applied to acupuncture points, motor trigger points and contracted motor bands. The stimulation applied to a combination of acupuncture points can provide immediate pain relief, decrease muscle tonicity and accelerate tissue repair for any form of musculoskeletal disorder, regardless of the cause allowing altered nerve function to return to normal.
Our nerve sheaths already carry direct current electricity which prompts the body to grow, heal, regenerate and repair itself so the applied charge is not foreign to the body and is more effective than alternate current stimulation. I have had some pretty amazing results using ETPS. A client suffering from an arthritic toe has not had any reoccurence of pain since the first treatment. Clients also experience a deeper feeling of relaxation when receiving ETPS along with massage. I typically apply the ETPS prior to a massage session. By treating the qi there is a whole trickle out effect on the body, organs, muscles and tissue. When the qi is flowing unobstructed the body is able to achieve homeostasis, or balance. Also ETPS is effective at releasing any nerve impingement at the spine.
The study of ETPS for me has been life and career changing. I feel much more effective in treating chronic pain cycles. There are many different protocols that ETPS addresses. For my purposes when using it with therapeutic massage it has really had a profound effect on my clients well being. Everything from stiffness in the low back to the above mentioned arthritis.
I absolutely love giving massage and helping people to achieve true well being. I am very well connected to other holistic health practitioners and enjoy referring clients to them.
